Day 3 for Sam
Today was the best. We skipped squash in the morning, experimenting to see whether it is better in the non-airconditioned facility at night (not really), and did touristy things in the AM.
In between the temples and churches, saree shopping and sightseeing, WE RODE AN ELEPHANT!!! Wahooooo! It was the neatest thing. They appeared to be super smart; they took change from people and blessed them for their donation to the temple by punching them on the top of their head with her nose. I couldn't resist. Also, they are very prickly things, i wore a skirt today which was a terrible terrible idea.
Once again today, people were making fun of us. I think they are laughing at us, not with us. We had to take our shoes off prior to entering the temple (Slumdog Millionaire style), and the ground (gray stone) was as hot as i don't even know what. I will never be one to walk on coals, that is what I learned today. Anyways, we danced around always looking for the very little shade present at around 12 noon. Mrs Letourneau got a video of us sprinting for the shade, whimpering in pain.
I bought my second saree today (I'm in love). Bright blue! The colours here are really incredible, I feel right at home.
Then there was squash, followed by some much needed fitness. now off to bed!!
